MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Outcomes Specialist P7 Telemetry & Thoracic/Cardiovascular Unit in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate must have a BSN and Master's Degree in a healthcare field. The candidate must also have a certification in quality or specialty focused area. Must be able to work 8:00A - 5:00P, 1P - 9P, and 3P - 11P including rotating weekends and holidays.

Summary

The Clinical Outcomes Specialist is a generalist prepared at the Master's degree level. In collaboration with the unit leadership team, the COS is accountable for the lateral integration of care, achieving quality patient outcomes, and maintaining patient safety at the microsystem level.

Essential Job Functions

a. Ensures integration of safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team care

b. Actively utilizes event reporting systems to evaluate trends at the microsystem

c. Collaborates with others in quality and performance improvement efforts

d. Collects and evaluates data on key patient outcomes on the unit and synthesizes data to positively influence care delivery and patient outcomes

e. Reports outcome data at the micro and macrosystem levels

f. Knowledgeable about regulatory issues that affect direct patient care

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in a healthcare field..

Experience

Required: Five years clinical nursing experience to include three years of oncology nursing experience. With preferred degree, three years of oncology nursing

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license(RN). Certification in quality or specialty focused area.

Other

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
