The Department of Finance, Information Systems, Economics, and Risk Management (FISER) of the Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB), at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) invites applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Management and Information Systems (MIS) to begin in August 2025. The MDCOB is accredited by AACSB and enrolls more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers majors and minors in Finance, Management Information Systems, and Risk Management and Insurance.

The position will have teaching responsibilities including, but not limited to: Programming, Mobile and Web application development, Computer Networking and Data Communications, Security Management, Business Analytics, and other information systems core and elective courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (i.e. MBA, Cybersecurity, analytics etc.). Ideal candidates will provide evidence of quality teaching at the college level that recognizes and adopts best practices in pedagogy. Candidates with experience or interest in teaching Security Management at the graduate level and/or developing an MBA program in Management Information Systems are strongly preferred. Industry experience in Information Systems is also preferred.

The position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses during the daytime, evening, and weekend hours in a variety of modalities. The home campus for these positions is the Downtown Houston campus, but the position may also have teaching assignments at UHDs Northwest campus.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience or interest in working with others to promote the advancement of the college, university, profession, and community through service-related activities.
