The incumbent will report directly to the Director of IT Business Solutions, supporting existing and developing new operationally, commercially, and financially focused business intelligence and business process automation solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collection and interpretation of new requirements and participation in the identification, technical translation, development and implementation of solutions to meet those needs, primarily as they relate to bolt-on applications, interfaces between systems/databases, reporting and data collection

  • Assignments are broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity. Incumbents work with minimum supervision, conferring with supervisor on unusual matters. Incumbent will ensure that assigned business system meets the needs of users and complies with the strategy of the organization, resolve day-to-day user related system problems, maintain excellent working knowledge of the systems/products assigned to support, and maintain awareness of innovations and potential system level improvements.

  • Work various business and IT groups (Contract Admin, Nominations/Scheduling, Gas Control, System Design, Account Services, Marketing, Business Development, Financial Planning, Risk Management, DBAs, Infrastructure, Network Security, Telecommunications, etc.) to design, construct, implement and support business intelligence and in compliance with Kinder Morgan IT policies.

  • Incumbent will monitor, track and report on the status of projects and initiatives as required

  • Support of existing business intelligence and business process automation solutions

  • Have the ability to devise comprehensive solutions from minimal written, graphical, or verbal specifications.

  • Independently troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems.

  • Resolve day-to-day production issues and quickly respond to issues to minimize the business interruptions.

  • Create and maintain documentation for new and existing technical processes.

  • Devise and modify procedures to solve the business problems using KM standard IT infrastructure, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the hardware/software, system response time, and form of desired results.

  • May be required to work non-traditional hours and respond during non-working hours, especially related to company emergencies.

  • In addition, the incumbent of this position will be involved in the following:

  • Perform regularly scheduled tasks to ensure system is operating efficiently and optimally.

  • Facilitate system upgrades to latest version. Coordinates with the other IS staff, end-users and vendor as needed.

  • Participate in planning solution implementations. Establish best approach and prepare detailed specifications.

  • Track and report progress of project to supervisor and user departments. Provide coverage during implementations.

  • Develop test plan scripts and conduct testing for system changes/enhancements.

  • Responsible for the development of all system documentation.

  • Assist in the identification of improvement, utilization and cost reduction opportunities.

    Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in a computer science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics or related field.

  • Advanced or expert level experience in SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, SSRS

  • Ability to write, analyze and maintain complex SQL queries procedures.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to initiate and maintain exemplary working relationships with other technology workers and business customers.

  • Provide periodic updates to Management.

  • Team Player, values input of others, and strives to solve problems for the team. Can represent own interests but be sensitive to others. Is cooperative and encourages collaboration.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Prior experience in the interstate natural gas business (marketing, contracting, scheduling, nominations, allocations, invoicing) and/or in an IT role supporting the KM DART transportation system in one or more of these functional areas.

  • Oil and Gas Industry/Pipeline Operations

  • Strong knowledge of optimum database design and implementation

  • Knowledge of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Business Intelligence Solutions, Tabular Models, Cube Models, Microsoft Power BI, PowerPivot

  • Experience with Palantir Foundry

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (M-W in office, Th & Fri work from home).
