Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Houston, Texas

Description We are on the lookout for a meticulous Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team situated in Houston, Texas. This role is pivotal to our accounting operations, requiring the successful candidate to liaise with vendors and team members in various functions to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting procedures. This job offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and is suitable for individuals with a knack for continuous improvement, a process-oriented approach, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

• Closely review and code invoices in line with our policies

• Monitor the status of open purchase orders and collaborate with other functions

• Confirm that invoices have the necessary approval prior to payment

• Maintain open lines of communication with vendors via phone or email

• Keep colleagues informed about invoices and payments

• Prepare batch check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions

• Investigate and resolve issues related to invoice and purchase order processing

• Process and communicate payment remittance information as required

• Coordinate and file annual Form 1099 tax forms

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vendor documentation and information is current, compliant, and accurate

• Maintain files and documentation according to company policy and accepted accounting practices

• Assist with monthly closing activities as requested

• Propose and implement process improvements

• Carry out ad hoc assignments and special projects as required. Requirements • Proven experience in performing Accounts Payable (AP) functions

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems such as NetSuite

• Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles

• Skilled in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting

• Experience in check processing and data entry tasks

• Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial reports

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
