Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Houston, Texas

Description

We are in search of an Accounting Manager to join our team located in Houston, Texas. As part of the team, you'll be responsible for a variety of duties including analyzing financial trends, overseeing AR & AP functions, and working cross-functionally to improve business activities. This role falls under the manufacturing industry and requires skills in Power BI, Power Query, Cost Analysis, and Supervisory.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and prepare monthly reports on trends and budget variances related to costs, revenues, returns, margins, and other P& L accounts.

• Supervise the AR & AP functions ensuring adherence to KPI’s and timely and accurate entry of billings, cash applications, AP, inventory receipts, and payments.

• Oversee collections and provide recommendations for delinquent accounts.

• Calculate accrued and deferred revenue and analyze variances between quoted and actual margins.

• Collaborate with different departments to identify areas for improvement and support business activities.

• Oversee the finance team’s role in preparation and organization of the annual physical inventory audit.

• Analyze balances in inventory and capex and suggest necessary adjustments.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting.

• Prepare various management reports as requested.

• Play a significant role in the period-end close processes by owning assigned accounting processes, accruals, journal entries, etc.

• Provide guidance and enforce deadlines for staff as necessary.

• Adapt to new and different computer programs and participate in system implementation projects across all departments.

• Assist with system and reporting enhancements by working with consultants.

• Assist with preparation of audit schedules and gathering of PBC data requests.

• Collaborate and cross-train with the Senior Accountant.

Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role within the accounting field.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the manufacturing industry.

• Proficiency in using Power BI and Power Query for data management and analysis.

• Strong capabilities in conducting cost analysis to support financial decision-making.

• Proven experience in supervising teams, with an emphasis on leadership, team development, and conflict resolution.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required; a master's degree or professional certifications such as CPA are preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

• Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Understanding of applicable laws, codes, and regulations relating to accounting practices.
