In our mission to nourish, delight and serve our world, we have an immediate opening for a PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR.

Key Job Responsibilities: This position requires a highly motivated and results oriented individual with the keen ability to coordinate a packaging expertise team, initiate and recommend packaging expertise and solutions to the Bimbo North America team. Lead a team of packaging specialists, with the objective of ensuring the company's results at Market Innovation, Sustainability, Consumer experience and Cost effectiveness level. Strong capability in open innovation process, working with specialized vendors, R&D Centers, Universities and Starts ups. Clear vision of present and future challenges of the Food Packaging Industry. Able to build a Packaging Strategy, focus on specific needs of each product company category. leader with the ability to create and develop a solid work team, promoting the knowledge and evolution of his work team. Bring new ideas and drive packaging innovation with a "Rapid Adaptor" mindset. Identifying and monitoring new technological developments for applications in the packaging segment. Provide technical support and/or advice as needed or requested from other departments. Support sourcing initiatives by qualifying and implementing new vendors. Dealing effectively and professionally with vendors to meet business objectives. Harmonize and develop packaging specifications and leverage critical mass over like SKU's. Works in partnership with cross functional teams, Product Development, Marketing, Operations and Quality Assurance to provide packaging solutions for new and existing products. Primary point of contact during packaging design. Identifies and implements cost savings initiatives. Troubleshoot with operations to provide support with potential packaging performance issues. Proactively apply scientific knowledge and technical skills to business issues and opportunities, documenting and completing accurately. Able to work in both a "hands-on" and /or direct as needed environment to make ideas and concepts into product reality. Ability to support the scale-up, first production, and quality assurance practices of developed products through the commercialization process. Frequent travel to bakery locations.

Position Requirements:

Key Behavioral Competencies: Strong capability to research and develop new packaging technologies, process, and materials. Good team and project management skills - excellent ability to plan, organize and prioritize activity. Highly organized with good prioritization skills, the ability to work to short deadlines with a strong attention to detail. Good track record of delivering and driving projects. Good knowledge of packaging manufacture and methods, packaging material use and the machine interface. Knowledge of legislation and environmental aspects relating o food industry packaging standards. Good diagnostic skills, the ability to assimilate information quickly and aptitude for problem solving. Highly motivated individual with good influencing skills. Collaborative style with good communication skills. Good numerical ability and proficient in English. Able to work independently. Considerable travel between Canada and the US may be required.

Education and Work History: A degree - ideally packaging, engineering or an Industrial Designer background. 10+ years of experience in consumer-packaged goods or food processing environment in a packaging technology role.
