The Blake School Interim Middle School Visual Art Teacher in Hopkins, Minnesota
Job Descriptions:
The Blake School seeks an interim Middle School visual art teacher to begin this fall (in November) through the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. The successful candidate will be an actively practicing artist with significant middle school teaching experience and genuine enthusiasm for working with early adolescents. This 1.0 FTE position, on the Blake campus in Hopkins, Minnesota, reports directly to both the Middle School division director and the PK-12 director of visual and performing arts.
Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences. The search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately.
Required Experience:
Responsibilities:
Teach five sections of visual art each quarter
Serve as a seventh grade advisor
Participate in required faculty meetings, trainings and staffings
Serve as a member of the department of visual and performing arts, attending meetings and supporting the work of the department
Maintain gallery displays of student art in hallways, lobbies and other creative spaces
Support the school, its mission and its leadership
Engage fully with the community-based experience of an independent school
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree (BA/BS/BFA); a master’s degree will be an advantage
Classroom experience teaching foundational components of 2D/3D visual art
Ability to differentiate instruction when necessary to reach all learners
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholders across the school
Excellent communication skills
Proven organizational skills
