Nexstar Media Group Traffic Anchor in Honolulu, Hawaii

This is a rare opportunity to join Hawaii’s #1 Station KHON2 in a high-profile critical role. The ideal candidate must have strong public speaking skills, knowledge of Hawaii traffic patterns and local street names, and experience working on-camera. Must be fully engaged and tech savvy to analyze traffic data and share important information with drivers on all platforms. Exceptional social media skills required. Knowledge of W.S.I. traffic systems a plus. Shooting and editing skills also a plus. Bachelor’s degree or related experience required.

The MORNING TRAFFIC REPORTER collects, analyzes and presents traffic information and shares other newsworthy events on all platforms :

  • Dedicated Traffic Reporter and Morning Host

  • Utilizes traffic system to analyze data and present information to viewers in clear concise manner

  • Provides additional resources for Viewers to get traffic information utilizing social media and station website

  • As needed, additional News Reports for broadcast, describing the background and details of events

  • Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality

  • Writes stories for the web and other eMedia platforms

  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

    Re quirements & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Superior on-air presence

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

  • Flexibility to work any shift

    Compensation: $21+/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
