Position : Specialist - Network Support Services

Location : Honolulu, HI

JOB PURPOSE :

The Network Engineering Operations Center (OPCEN) group supports the Inside and Outside Plant Engineering and Construction groups. Coordination of the work orders is done by the OPCEN group to meet Network Engineering's objectives.

The Specialist will be the team member focal for one of the following functional areas that the group will be responsible for: coordination of work orders with respective departments to meet customer's need date. The Specialist may be assigned as a lead for a function but ultimately will backup and share responsibilities with others in the group for coverage of other functions.

Receive, review, schedule, monitor and close work orders to meet Milestone dates:

  • Tracking PCM and Work Orders as issued

  • Monitoring Materials and releasing as required

  • Processing/updating schedule for timely notification tracking for Turn-Over, In-Service, Barcode Compliance and Construction Complete and All Work Complete.

  • Coordinate with Operations on force to load analysis.

  • Timely jeopardy notification

Project Management function for activity related to work order completions

  • Line transfers

  • Inter-departmental coordination

  • Managing report card responses

  • Staged material review

  • PCM/WO forecast

  • Develop reports as needed

Education and Certifications :

  • Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Sciences or Business Accounting with a technical concentration from a four-year college or university is preferred or four (4) years equivalent work experience in a related field.

Experience :

General Work Experience:

3 to 5 years

Previous Work Experience (include years preferred if applicable):

  • Five years' experience working in the telecommunications industry preferred.

  • Minimum three years' experience working specifically in the Network Engineering, Network Planning or Network Operations areas of the company is preferred.

  • Experience with the Network Switching, Network Transport and/or Outside Plant architecture of a wireline telecommunications company.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated experience presenting and speaking publicly.

Work Environment :

  • Daytime tour of duty; occasional scheduled night and weekend work.

  • May require working alone.

  • Required to meet multiple priorities and project due dates.

  • Work may be performed in an enclosed area lacking windows.

  • May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects.

  • Indoor work - Exposed to indoor conditions, dust, noise, dirt, heat, various lighting conditions, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires standing, sitting, lifting/carrying supplies and materials up to 25 lbs.

  • May require traveling to various locations under varying conditions and to company branches and departments throughout the State of Hawaii in a timely manner so must possess a valid Hawaii State Driver's License.

  • Required to meet multiple priorities and project due dates.

Pay Range: $60,000 to $84,000/year
