Job Description Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center is a fully integrated nonprofit health care system with a 159-bed tertiary care hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai‘i. With more than 300 employed or contracted physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with expert diagnoses and treatments for more than 30 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, vascular and urology. The Nursing Education department helps build the team’s expertise in patient care by expanding our nursing employees’ skills through demonstrations, HLC continuing education courses, nursing specialty training academies and other educational offerings. The department plans, designs, implements and evaluates all education activities for nursing staff with the goal of increasing their job performance and skills.

This opportunity is for the new graduate nurse who has a desire to become a Medical Surgical, Telemetry, or Critical Care Intermediate Unit nurse. The training program is designed to create an environment which provides the new nurse support through the transition from novice to independent nurse. The initial clinical program will be 12 weeks in duration. There will be no time away (PTO) allowed or granted during the first 12 weeks of the training program. Must be available for rotation to night shift and any shift length (4, 8, 10 or 12 hours) for the duration of the training.
