Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand specifications and instructions

• Cutting metal into the correct shape and prepare materials for welding. They may also grind and clean metal.

• Using torches and power supplies to heat, melt, and mix metals to create a joint. They may use manual, semi-automatic, electric, gas, or spot welding equipment.

• Inspecting materials and structures for welding, and test and inspect welded surfaces for flaws.

• Maintaining welding equipment and machinery, and ensure they are in a safe condition.

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes

• manual lifting up to 50lbs

• standing for 8 hours at one time
