Wayne County Area Agency on Aging is seeking a hard-working, reliable individual to work in our Dietary Department. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients and cooking food items in bulk quantities according to menu specifications. Work includes following recipes, preparing modified diets, ordering supplies, ensuring proper food requisition and preparation, as well as ensuring compliance with recipes alongside the Cook II. You will have the opportunity to instruct volunteers, package bulk food items, maintain food temperatures, operate kitchen equipment, clean dishes, maintain sanitation standards, attend training sessions, participate in tray line activities, and perform related tasks as needed.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Knowledge of the modern methods, materials, practices, and procedures used in food preparation, food service, and sanitation Knowledge of food service safety standards necessary to prevent accidents Knowledge of the proper care, use of serving utensils, and equipment Ability to work effectively with other people Ability to complete assigned work assignments in a timely and accurate manner Ability to follow instructions that are provided orally, in writing, or in group weekly productions meetings

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Experience in food preparation or service; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
