KEY Personnel Purchasing Clerk/Buyer NEEDED in Holland, Michigan
Job Description
Responsible for procurement necessary for the operation of the organization including raw material, supplies, tools, machinery & equipment. This role manages the company's vendor relationships, working continuously to improve value by focusing on price, quality, and lean initiatives for raw materials and parts. Interfaces with all departments of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Maintain bill of material list for all jobs running through production.
- Order all production materials, determine lead times and due dates
- Place purchase orders and record receipt of inventory.
- Implement system for tracking material by job with budget and actual cost.
- Work with vendors on quality, timeliness, and credit terms. Negotiate pricing for services and raw materials.
- Research material options including outside processing, as required.
- Order all other supplies for company including maintenance and office items.
- Participate in daily production meetings for material updates.
- Source suppliers and manage vendor relationships.
- Work out remedies for defective or non-conforming goods and returned goods.
- Coordinate schedules with other departments related to lead time requirements for procurement of materials, tooling, and maintenance.
- Obtain bids and participate in service/maintenance agreements and work with contractors as necessary to support needs involving equipment and facility improvements.
- Provide current cost on engineered products for quoting purposes when needed.
- Work with the Engineering and Sales/Marketing Departments on all new product initiatives requiring product supplier sourcing.
- Provide cost saving initiatives as applicable to reduce material costs and operating expenses.
