Daybreak Foods Farm Feed Mill Manager in Holland, Michigan

Summary

Maintain safe, clean and reliable operations of the feed mill.  Manufacture feed for all layers and pullets in a timely manner while meeting Company standards of feed safety and quality.  Interact with all other Daybreak Foods personnel in a professional, positive and timely manner. Key Responsibilities Manufacture feed for all layers and pullets to DBF standards. Apply standards of Safe Food/Safe Feed practices during procuring, receiving, mixing and delivery processes, and transition to Apply knowledge of SQF Code 34 for above processes Operate feed milling operations and train staff to operate. Communicate with production on rations Assure operation of mill in compliance with FDA requirements, including that of medicated feed and Food Safety Modernization Act. Manage the incoming flow of necessary ingredients with DBF purchaser to make safe, quality feed. Maintain a clean, safe work environment with emphasis on housekeeping and pest control. Establish and maintain a strict preventative maintenance program. Participate in the evaluation and goals of the production department. Administer all employee appraisals, coaching, and disciplinary action Take initiative and ensure compliance with overall company safety programs and goals as it applies to the mill Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High school Diploma Minimum of 2 yrs Feed mill experience required. Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems desirable. Personnel management experience required. Safety training and experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude are essential. Good organizational skills essential. Self motivation with a drive for safe quality feed is required. Computer skills, Word, Excel required. Additional computer training as required. Knowledge of production agriculture desirable. Ability to relate to all kinds of suppliers, including truck drivers, farmers and brokers. Physical Demands Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder. Work Environment Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Employee may work in outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places.
