Eaton Corporation Shipping Technician I - 1st Shift in Hodges, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Shipping Technician I - 1st Shift to join our team in Hodges, SC!

The hourly rate for this position is $15.11 per hour. The core hours are 7 am - 3:30 pm.

What you’ll do:

The Shipping Technician will support the shipping department by completing forklift duties as needed and receiving incoming materials. They will execute all required tasks including, but not limited to visual inspection, box, pack and ship finished product and all raw materials, as appropriate.

In this function you will:

  • Support the supply chain materials process to fulfill customer requirements/orders by producing quality products, safely, in a timely manner following Standard Work.

  • Comply with the environment, health, and safety guidelines.

  • Sustainment of 5S+ in area.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement as well as complete root cause analysis in response to issues with quality or production.

  • Be responsible for quality, including visual inspections of material before shipping, identifying nonconforming parts, and troubleshooting errors.

  • Cross train and flex or stand in for other employees/job functions when necessary.

  • Operate a forklift to move material or bring material to the area to build crates.

  • Use a variety of material handling equipment such as hand trucks, cranes, pallet jacks and hand tools to unload and load trucks arriving or leaving from receiving area and for placing material in the proper location or delivering material to the work centers.

  • Use hand tools such as a bander to secure material or shipments, impact nail gun to build crates, hammer, tape measure, and other tools required to build crates and boxes.

  • Use supply chain tracking systems to maintain inventory and use scanners to scan items to trucks.

  • Use a wood saw to cut wood at appropriate lengths to build crates and use the paper former to get packing material.

  • Form shipping groups of final products shipped to external customers and prepare assemblies for shipment or storage.

  • Use appropriate lift assist or partner lift when moving material/products.

  • May lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push or pull up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 months of manufacturing experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

  • Minimum of 3 months of experience operating a powered industrial vehicle (e.g., forklift)

  • Minimum of 3 months of experience utilizing Eaton system controls including material management.

  • Minimum of 3 months of experience using hand and air tools

  • South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) or equivalent

Skills:

  • Ability to push and/or pull up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Fine motor skills, typing, pushing buttons, etc.

  • Proven problem-solving skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus

  • Ability to work overtime when required.
