Job Title: Director of Accounting

Location: Hoboken, NJ (Hybrid)

Position Overview: The Director of Accounting will lead multiple facets of the accounting operations, identifying opportunities for efficiencies to accelerate the monthly closing timeline while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across our extensive operations. This role demands a strategic leader with exceptional analytical skills and ability to manage a team of finance professional.

How you will make an impact:

  • Financial Reporting: Lead and manage areas of global RTR team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including reviewing journal entries and account balances and preparing comprehensive reporting.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in compliance with international standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Process Improvement: Assess and pursue initiatives to improve and streamline accounting processes and systems, focusing on automation and efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal controls, maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment and integration of financial processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide leadership and guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions, leveraging technical expertise to resolve challenges.
  • Audit Coordination: Manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring all necessary documentation and processes are in place.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Proven experience in managing global accounting operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience in [specific industry].
  • Fluency in multiple languages.

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA.
