Covenant Health Chief Administrative Officer in Hobbs, New Mexico

Description

THE ROLE

Oversees the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of Covenant rural hospital and its services. Directs and monitors to achieve and maintain quality patient care and efficient/effective daily business operations. Promotes an environment shaped by health, healing, hope, diversity, and mutual respect. Requires limited supervision/direction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for all identified outcome measures as denoted on Performance Assessment.

  • Provides administrative oversight for Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital. including, but not limited to overseeing the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of its departments, personnel and services provided.

  • Directs and monitors staff to achieve and maintain quality patient care and efficient/effective daily business operations.

  • Assures compliance with standards established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Assures that CHS Human Resources and Administrative Policies and Procedures are appropriately administered.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and performs in accordance with the philosophy, values, vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the organization.

  • Promotes a work atmosphere conducive to staff development and motivation by consistently demonstrating a positive and supportive attitude.

  • Maintains and coordinates effective relationships with medical staff, employees, patients and their families, and guests.

  • Exercises creative approaches to problem solving. Deals with conflict and problematic situations in an open and tactful manner respecting the dignity of the individual(s).

  • Provides the CHS Executive Management Team (EMT) direction on strategic planning, marketing, financial management, and/or budgetary planning.

  • Periodically engages in public speaking and in making presentations.

  • Active participation in various professional and community organizations.

  • Promotes safety in the work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Human Resources Administration, or a related field from an accredited college/university

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration from an accredited college/university; or equivalent educ/experience (preferred)

  • Upon hire: Licenses and certifications dependent upon area of specialization

  • Coursework/Training: Computer applications, leadership skills, project management

  • 4 years in the health care field or closely related industry

  • Generalist knowledge of all areas of health administration

  • Knowledge and in-depth understanding of reimbursement as it applies to rural hospitals

  • Working knowledge of available outside resources to furnish information to system administrators

  • Knowledgeable in the principles of human resources administration, quality improvement, and JCAHO standards

  • Budgetary planning and administration

  • Strong management/supervisory skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships within and without the organization

  • Effective public speaking skills, as well as ability to develop and conduct effective presentations

  • Knowledge of and ability to use accounting methods and interpret statistical data

  • Computer skills (Windows-based software)

  • Flexible work schedule; a good deal of traveling may be required

  • Seeks continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
