Summary:
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapy Services at UNC-Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC is accepting applications for a Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist in UNC Hospitals' 40-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Direct patient care in our adult inpatient rehabilitation center setting with cross coverage as needed in the acute care realm.
Qualified candidates will serve as a team leader and/or coordinator within the department providing advanced clinical expertise in the areas of leadership, neuro care and education. Additionally, this therapist will participate in program development, provide clinical supervision to students, assist with quality improvement projects, and may participate in research. This therapist will be working closely with an experienced, interdisciplinary group of therapists within the Rehab team.
Qualified applicants will have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills, and remain flexible in a fast – paced environment. Good leadership skills will be necessary to coordinate patient care coverage with other disciplines and teams within the department. Applicants must be available for a 40 hr/week appointment, day shift as well as occasional weekend and holiday coverage. Previous acute inpatient rehab experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Completes PT documentation in the medical record per department guidelines and completes department records for billing and statistics
Evaluates Patient, sets Physical Therapy (PT) treatment goals, devises a PT treatment plan and manages resources needed to perform treatment plan to accomplish the goals set for the patient.
Manages PT caseload with efficiency and efficacy
Plans and coordinates clinical programs
Provides clinical supervision and teaching for multiple students and/or staff. Plans orientation, caseload, and other learning activities. Provides regular feedback and coaching. Evaluates the learner's performance.

Education Requirements:
● Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
● BLS
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Five (5) years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, including one (1) year in the specialty field.
