Position Overview:

seeking an experienced Transit Service Manager to manage the Command Center at the Hudson Valley Transit Management Center (HVTMC). The ideal candidate will coordinate and disseminate information to Command Center Coordinators, Operators, Service Quality Supervisors (SQS) and other pertinent staff involved in helping to provide on-time service of buses on routes. In addition, the Transit Service Manager uses a GPS CAD/AVL system to proactively manage the day-to-day on the road operations of transit service delivered by Transdev. Main Responsibilities:

● Provides verbal direction to Bus Operators, verbal assistance to SQS’s and others.

● Pro-actively intervenes, using all available resources, to ensure that the safest high-quality

service is provided.

● Collaborates with the local Transdev operating divisions and the Client regarding; service

interruptions, on time performance issues, detours, bus stop concerns, lost & found items,

service capacity and other needs.

● Makes documentation in various data base systems, information on service incidents

including accidents, medical/first responder, mechanical defects/road calls, full & passing

events, etc.

● Documents and refers disciplinary actions to SQS’s as directed by the General Manager and

Assistant General Manager to include verbal counseling, written counseling, written work rule

violation notices, etc.

● Resolves disputes and concerns raised by employees.

● Other documentation: Payroll for Coordinators, OTP Report, Road Call Consolidation report

(daily), Staff Meeting notes representing the Command Center and LHTL daily operating

information.

Qualifications:

● Degree preferred in transportation, business, or logistics preferred.

● 3+ years management experience in heavy radio or high volume dispatch required.

● 3+ years experience in a transit environment preferred.

● 3+ years previous management experience.

● Proficiency experience in computer databases and MS Word software required.

● Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

● Must be able to communicate instructions and directions in an extremely busy environment.

● Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide an effective solution is essential.

● Ability to work under pressure and always maintain professionalism.

● Knowledge of or ability to learn service area.

● Knowledge of or ability to learn working systems of motor coaches a must.

● Strong interpersonal skills.

● Knowledge of two-way radio system is essential.

● Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able

to work well with diverse groups.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

● Must have exceptional customer service and follow up skills.

● Ability to prioritize work and meet budgeted required staffing metrics.

● Must be able to pass an FBI background check

● Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings.
