The AFNWC Minuteman III Systems Directorate manages the current ICBM technical life extension program and integrated life-cycle activities, including equipment spares, storage and transportation, modifications, equipment replacement, etc., to ensure that the ground-based leg of America's nuclear triad is "Never Doubted - Always Feared." The AFNWC Sentinel Systems Directorate manages a major defense acquisition program charged to deliver a full system replacement for the nation's Minuteman III system, providing an even stronger strategic deterrent to nuclear attack against the United States. The Sentinel Systems Directorate faces a challenge that the U.S. has never encountered before - reconstituting a nuclear weapons production capability without nuclear explosive testing. RANGE OF DUTIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE): Perform multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to determine the business and technical needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of ICBM weapon systems, sub-systems, and/or support equipment. Perform complex and comprehensive analysis and integration, using disciplined and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document assigned projects/programs. Ensure assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies. Perform concept planning, design and development, integration, evaluation, and auditing of architecture content; identifies and resolves highly complex technical problems in a model-based systems engineering environment. SKILLS (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE): Six or more years of relevant engineering experience and knowledge of professional engineering principles is highly preferred. Weapon system acquisition experience, including knowledge of cradle-to-grave acquisition phases (Engineering & Manufacturing Development, production, sustainment, etc.), risk management, program management, test & evaluation etc. is highly desired. Experience with systems engineering, specifically complex system HW/SW architecture design, requirements, interfaces and integration to include verifying development of model content (e.g. use-cases, meta-models) and technical baseline management is strongly preferred. Experience with architecture frameworks such as Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), modeling languages such as Unified Modeling Language (UML) & Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and modeling tools such as Cameo is highly valued. Demonstrated experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) approaches used to predict and verify system performance is highly preferred. Knowledge of test and evaluation procedures, test planning, test data analysis, and requirements verification is a plus. Experience in integration, testing, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Requirements Verification Architecture Models (RVAM), and modeling tools such as SysML, Cameo, DOORS, etc. is desirable. Knowledge of instructional design principles and methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, AGILE Models) and deep understanding of Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), xAPI, and other Instructional Systems Design standards is desirable. Strong mechanical or aerospace engineering background with >5 years' experience in solid or liquid rocket propulsion, aerospace structures, or ordnance systems, as well as related support equipment is highly desirable. Experience in structures, structural analysis, solid modeling, design, tooling, concepting, criteria development/evaluation, revisions/redesigns, testing is desirable. Experience in SW/HW development, some programming experience (C++, Java, VB.net, Python, C#, etc.), Security+ Credentials, cryptography, Nuclear Command Control & Communications and Radio Frequency is highly desirable. Experience with network equipment, network design, software requirements, complex software system integration to include commercial off the shelf and custom software with hardware integration and/or network testing is highly desirable. Experience with battle management systems, threat modeling and engagement modeling & analysis is preferred. Experience with radar signature modeling, electro-optics/infrared signature modeling, flight analysis and trajectory modeling, and/or nuclear effects modeling is desired. Knowledge of the design and development of Training Device simulators, emulators, or other engineered devices to perform high-fidelity training functions is highly valued. Knowledge of Captivate, Storyline, or any other Instructional System Design rapid development tools in association with curriculum development and the integration and administration of Learning Management Systems is desired.
