Cimarron Software Services, Inc. Orbital Debris Assessment Engineer in Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Cimarron is seeking an Orbital Debris Assessment Engineer to support the Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) satellite system program in Highlands Ranch, CO. GeoXO is NOAA's next-generation Geostationary Extended Observations satellite system, designed to revolutionize how we monitor Earth's atmosphere and oceans. GeoXO will deliver critical data to improve forecasts and increase preparedness for severe weather, air quality events, and harmful algal blooms. By enhancing public safety and delivering significant economic benefits, GeoXO represents a transformative step in safeguarding lives, property, and our nation's resilience.

This is a hybrid role that only requires onsite support two days per week.

Key Duties:

Conduct analyses to evaluate the risks and impacts of orbital debris on satellite missions and other spacecraft. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with orbital debris mitigation standards and contribute to the development of solutions to enhance the sustainability of Earth's orbital environment. Perform orbital debris risk assessments for satellite missions, including collision probability analysis and debris impact modeling. Utilize tools such as NASA's Debris Assessment Software (DAS), ORDEM, and other modeling and simulation platforms to analyze orbital debris environments. Evaluate spacecraft designs for compliance with international and national orbital debris mitigation guidelines (e.g., NASA, ESA, FCC, and ISO standards). Support mission design teams by providing insights into optimal operational altitudes, end-of-life disposal strategies, and collision avoidance maneuvers. Develop and maintain databases related to orbital debris populations and spacecraft interactions. Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results and recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. Support the development and update of subsystem and system Preliminary and Critical Design Review products Stay current on the latest research, guidelines, and tools related to orbital debris and space sustainability. Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. 5 or more years of related experience. Experience with orbital mechanics, debris modeling, and space mission analysis tools. Familiarity with orbital debris mitigation standards and practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with at least 1 PDR or CDR on a similar program. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Astrodynamics, or a related field. Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

Master's degree in a related field. Experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ for custom analysis and simulations. Familiarity with space policy and regulatory compliance regarding orbital debris. Experience working on projects involving large constellations or multi-satellite missions. Business Profile:
