LifePoint Health Sterile Processing Team Lead in Hickory, North Carolina

Job Summary The SPD Team Lead is responsible for managing and supervising the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring the proper decontamination, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. This role involves leading a team of professionals in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and instrument readiness for surgical procedures.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions 1. Leadership and Supervision: -Provide leadership and guidance to the SPD staff, including Sterile Processing Technicians, Instrument Technicians, and other team members. -Schedule work assignments, monitor staff performance, and ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures. 2. Sterilization and Decontamination: -Oversee and manage the decontamination and sterilization processes for surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and infection control protocols. -Ensure that sterilization equipment and processes are functioning correctly and efficiently. 3. Instrument Inspection and Maintenance: -Supervise the inspection, assembly, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. -Collaborate with the maintenance team to address any equipment issues promptly. 4. Quality Control and Compliance: -Establish and maintain quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of instrument sterilization. -Monitor and document sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. 5. Training and Development: -Provide training and mentorship to SPD staff, ensuring they are up-to-date on best practices, equipment use, and industry standards. -Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. 6. Inventory Management: -Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and tracking surgical instruments and supplies. -Ensure proper inventory control and efficient resource utilization. 7. Documentation and Record-keeping: -Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, inventory, and any issues or concerns. -Assist in maintaining electronic health records (EHR) and paper-based records as necessary. 8. Regulatory Compliance: -Stay informed about and ensure adherence to state and federal regulations and guidelines related to sterile processing and infection control. -Prepare for and participate in regulatory audits and inspections. 9. Emergency Response: -Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or surgical delays, to minimize disruptions in surgical processes.

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST). • 5 years’ experience in sterile processing with at least 1 years of supervisory or leadership experience. • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in infection control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and industry standards.
