Legrand NA Product Manager in New London, Connecticut

Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join the Data Center Power and Control Division. This is a remote position reporting to New London, CT. The Product Manager will be responsible for the complete management of the designated product line: product development, sales support & training, promotional activities, forecast of revenue, inventory and operations performance (capacity, cost, pricing, gross margins), and strategic planning leveraging market knowledge and research.

Main Activities:

  • Organization: Individual contributor with Product Manager peers managing other lines

  • Main Interface: Internal – engineering, marketing teams within the entity and across other brands, operations, customer support and pricing, and sales. External – customers, contractors, distributors, consultants, and vendors.

  • Fiscal: Responsible for revenue growth and margin performance of assigned product line including pricing strategy, supplier selection, value-add engineering, and management and inventory, excess and obsoletes (E&O).

    What Will You Do?

  • Ownership of new product development (NPD) funnel of projects for an assigned product line that reflects customer/market needs, new business opportunities, and/or cost improvements to existing products.

  • Support of commercial activities to enable the success of the product line including field visits, interfacing with marketing for product launch activities, participation in industry events and tradeshows, and support of the training team.

  • Support of marketing collateral including catalog development, sell sheets, product bulletins, training videos, and campaigns.

  • Ownership of product line metrics including achievement of targeted revenue growth, gross margin performance, service levels, and E&O management.

  • Participation in sales and operations planning (S&OP/SIOP) to share product forecasts with sourcing and manufacturing teams.

  • Conduct market research to understand and convey growth prospects, proposal of new markets and verticals, and overall outlook of the product line.

  • Participate in strategic planning to ensure continued path for market share growth, profitability, and competitive benchmarking.

  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:

  • BS in Business, Engineering, or related fields.

    Experience:

  • Minimum 2 - 4 years experience in marketing, engineering, or related field.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic, structured cabling or data center connectivity markets is a plus.

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.

  • Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control a number of projects at various stages of work.

  • Also requires the ability and comfort to interface cross-functionally with the proper level of responsiveness to keep all stakeholders informed. Collaborative and inclusive skill sets to foster trust and open communication.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information, and validate understanding of the information. MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).

  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customers.

  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business. Must be proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.
