Salvation Army Social Services Coordinator in Hibbing, Minnesota
Position Summary The Salvation Army Hibbing Corps is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; shelter and housing programs; and connections to community partners. The Social Services Coordinator provides direct assistance to program participants. The Coordinator also recruits and provides a full range of case management services to Pathway of Hope (POH) participants. POH is responsible for providing targeted services to participants with a desire to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty. $21.00/hour, 40 hours/week 107 W. Howard St., Hibbing, MN 55746 Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered, holistic case management for POH participants. (30%) Provide participants with direct assistance (e.g., Heatshare, vouchers). (20%) Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry. (15%) Oversee food shelf operations including processing incoming and outgoing food donations and purchases, staffing, training, statistics, and reporting. (10%) Facilitate individual and group educational activities. (10%) Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%) Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community. (5%) Engage in internal activities to promote and further POH goals and objectives. (5%) Education and Experience Associate degree in relevant field preferred. Instead of a degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered. If the degree is in social work, must be licensed by the state board. Previous social services and food pantry/services experience required. MN Food Protection Manager Certification within 90 days of employment and maintained throughout employment. Must pass background checks. Valid driver's license and meet MVR requirements preferred. Competencies Flexible interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty, and diligence. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment. Working Conditions A combination of work including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching, and lifting. Professional environment; eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and participants. Standard business hours with infrequent evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift 40 pounds occasionally. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Travel Requirements May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared.
