JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Yandong Zhou lab at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is recruiting a Research Technologist. The responsibilities of the position include lab ordering, lab organization and providing research support to postdocs and students in the lab. The person hired will undertake routine molecular biology approaches in plasmid construction, gene mutation, plasmid isolation, transfection procedures, tissue culture of mammalian cell lines, and routine breeding, genotyping and care of animal cell lines. The research technologist will receive training in standard techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, and animal care.
The person hired will be perform molecular cloning, tissue culture, mouse colony maintenance and general lab organization. Primary responsibilities include undertaking molecular cloning techniques to introduce mutations within plasmids, undertaking CRISPR/Cas9 deletion of genes in cell lines, establishing and maintaining cultured cell lines for experiments, transient transfection of cells, selection of clonal cells lines stably expressing gene products, performing single cell fluorescence imaging for stable cell lines, mouse genotyping and preparation of lab reagents. Specific experience in all of these technologies is not required but the candidate should have sufficient molecular and cellular training to be able to become proficient in these approaches. The successful candidate will be an organized team player, and able to communicate effectively with the research team, as well as undertake training and mentoring of students and visiting scholars. The person hired must meet the current NIH requirements for biomedical research to assure quality of research with rigorous and reproducible data collection and analyses. The candidate for this position should be able to develop detailed knowledge of the cellular signaling mechanisms being studied and be able to develop novel concepts and approaches.
This is a limited-term position funded for six months from date of hire, withpossibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $34,800.00 - $50,500.00
