JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State is currently seeking an Associate Director of Community Fundraising in supporting Penn State Health and the Penn State College of Medicine. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State’s future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Annual Programs and working closely with colleagues across Penn State Health and the College of Medicine, as well as other partners, this Associate Director of Community Fundraising will:

  • Oversee and manage signature fundraising events and relationships that support Penn State Health and the College of Medicine, which can include recruitment of teams and individual participants, volunteer engagement and training, soliciting corporate sponsors, building relationships with community donors and content and resource creation;

  • Articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions, and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and formal communications;

  • Steward current external community donors in their fundraising efforts for Penn State Health and the College of Medicine;

  • Establish and maintain effective connections with and provide development support/expertise to community groups, schools, service clubs, and cause marketing partners involved with community fundraising events;

  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of community and corporate partners;

  • Effectively communicate resources available, provide forms and guidelines from the Development office to support community efforts and provide support, as appropriate, to all third-party fundraising events;

  • Professionally represent Penn State Health and the College of Medicine to community and corporate partners;

  • Develop and implement potential fundraising initiatives that community groups, corporations and organizations can use to support the mission of Penn State Health and the College of Medicine;

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the use of protected health information (PHI) in fundraising and provide guidance in this area to clinical staff at the hospital when engaging patient donors.

This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will also have:

  • Proficient ability in strategy development and project management;

  • A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities;

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion;

  • A working knowledge of fundraising platforms such as Donor Drive, iModules, Mobile Cause, etc;

  • Strong technical proficiency with HTML and CSS;

  • Excellent grammatical, written, visual and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to apply design styles that meet brand guidelines;

  • A results-oriented style with high attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment;

  • Demonstrated awareness of and adaptive actions to emerging trends within development and medical fundraising; ensuring that organizational practices remain current and effective;

  • An ability to conform to University and Penn State Health policy;

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills;

  • A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team;

  • A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position’s duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required, as well as the following: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
