ManTech Data Scientist in Herndon, Virginia

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and client-oriented Data Scientist to join our team in Herndon, VA . This is a Hybrid position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced computer vision algorithms for object detection, object tracking, and video processing.

  • Oversee the analysis of historical and real-time video feeds, providing actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Mentor junior data scientists and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success.

  • Design and perform experiments to evaluate aspects of emerging and fast-changing data science and related technologies, such as generative AI, quantum, and explainable AI techniques.

  • Stay current on published state-of-the-art data science and analytics methods and applications. Design and perform benchmarking evaluations and applied research to address new problem sets. Seek out opportunities to apply new and emerging techniques against client use cases.

  • Develop solution accelerators, prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and methods for use in client engagements.

  • Develop models and solutions for problem sets in a broad range of data science areas, including but not limited to natural language processing, graph analytics, computer vision, anomaly detection, data visualization, and metrics creation.

  • Apply design thinking or other solution-based methods to solve problems consisting of various qualitative activities that support the generation of insightful, human-centered and impactful design solutions.

  • Perform knowledge elicitation from client of business problem details and incorporate that knowledge into algorithms, models, and approaches in client solutions.

  • Identify AI and data science challenges in non-AI projects to enhance the projects’ capabilities.

  • Translate data science related technical requirements to agile tasks prioritized according to the goals and requirements of the client.

  • Contribute to solutions with algorithms, models, data manipulation tasks, or other technical challenges related to data science.

  • Communicate findings to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders and engage clients to distill complex technical language.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field and 10 years of experience OR a Master's degree and 8 years of experience or equivalent experience

  • In depth knowledge with one or more cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Oracle, IBM, Azure and GCP) and experience working across environments and on premise.

  • Extensive experience with Python and relevant data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn).

  • Proven experience in leading the full life cycle of developing and deploying various types of Machine Learning models.

  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills, including client-facing discussions and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Having an existing DHS or TS/SCI security clearance is highly desirable.

  • Master's degree or PhD in a related field.

  • Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly BigQuery and Vertex AI.

  • Advanced experience with video processing and analysis, including OpenCV and YOLO.

  • Deep expertise in computer vision, deep learning, and other data science specialties.

  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating information to a senior executive audience.

  • Publications or contributions to the field of machine learning or computer vision.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have either an active Secret or higher clearance (TS preferred) OR DHS Suitability

  • Must haveability to obtain TS/SCI with polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and clients, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
