Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Ag Retail division to hire a EHS Specialist.

Day to day responsibilities for this individual would including providing technical support assistance on matters relating to safety. This person will be responsible for implementing and managing existing safety programs. Our ideal candidate would have strong relationship building skills and be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Candidates can live and office anywhere in the Herman business unit (Herman, Clinton, Fergus Falls, Glenwood, Morris, Park Rapids, Sisseton, Starbuck, or surrounding communities).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).

• May assist more junior team members in work activities.

• Implement and aid in development of EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

• Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.

• Conduct EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.

• Conduct accident investigations, manage worker’s compensation process, and return to work program.

• Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to other departments and personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.

• Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner.

• Ability to work well within a team and other team members.

• Travel to all locations in the CHS Herman business unit on a regular basis.

• Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety

Additional Qualifications

• Agriculture background, facility operation, and management experience

• Bachelor's Degree, preferred or related experience

• Understanding of agricultural practices and principles

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Intelex and other computer based systems

• Ability to complete OSHA 30 hour agricultural training certification program

• Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
