Shift : Days, Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

The role you’ll contribute:
Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures. Obtains and documents patient clinical information as needed. Performs basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards. Assists in radiology department as needed. Responsibility to adhere to the Hospital Corporate compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

· Ensures that equipment has met all quality control requirements and, working with minimum supervision, performs patient examination utilizing age-specific care techniques (see competencies) in a safe and responsible manner, utilizing proficiency while evaluating image quality to ensure good technical and diagnostic detail
· Documents incidents, reactions and/or unusual occurrences at time of incident.
· Stocks Ultrasound rooms with required supply items as listed in rooms and monitored by supervisor.
· Is active in process improvement for the Radiology Department.
· Properly performs scans in accordance with set department protocols to aid in the patient's diagnosis at a level of competence not requiring constant supervision of technical detail according to policy and procedures.
· Demonstrates proper job knowledge to operate all necessary equipment.
· Performs scans in timely manner, display required views, satisfactory positioning (assisting patient as needed), and taking additional views as deemed necessary from viewing routine images.
Inspects images for satisfactory techniques and labeling prior to releasing patient and turning images in for interpretation.
· Demonstrates the ability to solve job-related problems such as equipment malfunctions, alternate patient positioning if needed, additional views and realization of equipment and patient limitations.
· Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and uses this knowledge to enhance scans and individualize each exam if needed to aid in diagnosis of patient.
· Always reviews the patient history from the chart, previous studies and from the patient if possible, making proper notations of such on the exam request.
· Notifies scheduled out-patients of approximate waiting times upon arrival, if greater than a 15-minute wait is expected, periodically informs patients as to waiting time status.
· Notifies nursing floors when behind schedule so that patients may be fed accordingly and re-prepped for new scheduled time.
· Accepts responsibility for supervision of students as they rotate through assigned area.
· Is active in process improvement for the Ultrasound Department.
· Responsible for the coordination of daily assignments.
· Helps adjusts staff coverage to maintain adequate, but not excessive, coverage at all times when needed.
· May perform leadership responsibilities in the Ultrasound Modality and reports to leadership
· Records and analyzes data and shares results with leadership.
· Knowledgeable in and compliant with process related to high level disinfection of transvaginal probes or other equipment as appropriate.
· Actively participates in patient satisfaction initiatives. Daily utilizes rounding process for identification of service and patient satisfaction issues. Assists in developing action plans where applicable. Initiates patient service recovery, when appropriate.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
· Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English
· Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
· Independent judgment and initiative
· Ability to assist in a wide range of duties to ensure the smooth operation of the department
· Age-specific care
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Associates degree from accredited program
· One-year experience as a sonographer
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· Two-year experience as a sonographer
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
· American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)(S) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) specialty examination in Abdomen (AB), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular (VS) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) plus one additional specialty examination requirement
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED :
· Certification in Pediatric or Breast
