Position Purpose: Oversee functional areas of a manufacturing plant operation including production, materials, purchasing, and manufacturing engineering. Identifies problems and develops plans to improve uses of materials, machines, and employees as well as all related processes. Ensures safety and success in the work environment, while working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Purchasing and Engineering to support the overall business objectives. Essential Functions: * Lead a manufacturing operation that exhibits continuous improvement measured by safety, on-time delivery, productivity, quality, and cost containment. * Manage, implement, and improve systems to streamline and maintain proper shop floor controls including production scheduling, reporting, inventory control and performance measurements. * Review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Identifies potential problems and takes corrective action. * Maintain a sustainable organization that encourages teamwork, safety-first attitude, and quality system compliance. Identify areas of employee development and provide training. Ensure administration of policies, work rules, and established procedures. Seek input from hourly employees and maintain positive, direct employee relations. * Review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Identifies potential problems and takes corrective action. * Direct, monitor and coordinate efforts of supporting functions including production, material control, quality and administration. * Develops and implements training plans for employee development. Coordinates employee involvement efforts and maintains direct relations status. Ensures safe work environment. * Develops plans for total improvement, and the efficient use of materials, machines, and employees. * Achieves shipping, quality, and customer service objectives. * Maintain regular attendance. Education and Training * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related area. Minimum Qualifications * Minimum of fifteen (15) years' work experience in manufacturing. Minimum of 10 years leading a manufacturing team. Previous engineering and project management work experience are a plus. * Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing principles including: 5S, theory of constraints, and visual factory. * Results-oriented individual possessing analytical skills and demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects. Ability to execute multiple responsibilities, projects and activities. * Good communication and leadership skills. * Ability to lead by example supporting a team-oriented environment and maintain good employee relations. * Computer literate using windows-based software. * Occasion travel required. Physical Demands * Must be able to remain in a stationary position. * Occasionally need to move about inside office designated area. * Minimal movement of hands, wrists, or fingers such as typing, filing, and writing. Environmental Conditions * Frequently exposure to office designated area. * Minimal atmospheric exposure. * Minimal exposure to loud noises. * Minimal exposure to items that might injure one's self.
