The primary responsibility of the Principal Product Manager - Technical (Principal PMT) is to own and drive multiple software services and platforms as products. As a Principal Technical Product Manager in the Ring Application Platform Team, you will help create and drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap, with a high degree of ownership over critical features that emphasize customer experience. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with HW/FW/SW engineering, product design, security, legal, privacy, customer experience facing product leaders, devices teams, and executive teams to envision, develop, and launch innovative platforms to be leveraged by millions of devices.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the entire product life cycle from inception to launch

  • Drive the development of the strategy, roadmap, and business plan for your product areas while working with various teams.

  • Be a passionate advocate for the customer; understand and articulate customer needs, conduct ongoing customer research, leverage internal knowledge and expertise, and prioritize market requirements

  • Inspire the team with the product vision, and work cross-functionally to bring that vision to life

  • Write requirements documents, define use cases and CX, and own the business metrics and KPIs for your products, services and platform

  • Drive product launches, including working with public relations, marketing, executives, and other product management team members

  • Serve as the product expert, assisting marketing with press briefing, industry talks, and white papers

A day in the life

A day in the life of a successful candidate will require them to be both creative and analytical. They will effectively navigate matrix organization where product, engineering, and program exist in different reporting structures and VPs. They will be adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into software solutions that Ring’s customers love. This person will be customer obsessed and love our products. They will have a proven track record of building and scaling successful cloud based software solutions. This person will be responsible for driving platform roadmaps while balancing tight delivery timelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

  • Direct experience with building and scaling cloud based external and internal facing services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
