FACILITIES OPERATIONS ENGINEER (CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE)
As a member of the critical infrastructure team, you will help design, build, activate and maintain some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will be able to operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects at a time and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a facilities engineer, you will be the extreme owner of provided tactical and strategic scheduling and interfacing all work across the organization. You will work directly with other managers, supervisors, leads, technicians and external vendors to support these goals and have the opportunity to drive real global impact, ultimately leading to making life multiplanetary. The position is based in Hawthorne, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide tactical scheduling and strategic long range planning expertise to our critical infrastructure and operations team.
Schedule and plan all facilities repair and maintenance work across the organization, respond to tickets, communicate with clients (external/internal) and provide status updates as needed
Assist the Facilities Manager(s) in all aspects of project implementation
Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
Provide campus wide reporting on departmental spend, ticketing, and other metrics as requested
Perform job walk-downs with vendors, engineers, supervisors, and managers as needed
Work with the purchasing department to ensure vendors are approved, vetted and insured
Assist with badging, ITAR and NDA requirements, and safety training
Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders
Ensure purchase orders are accurate with no cost over runs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
2+ years of experience with the design or build of MEP building systems
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of facility vendor and contract management
2+ years of professional experience writing queries with SQL
Experience building dashboards with Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent
Knowledge of HVAC operation and design principles including refrigeration, chillers, boilers, and air handling equipment
Experience with plumbing design and operation including domestic water, waste water, venting, and storm systems
Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches
Ability to quickly assess an issue and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair
Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlines
Acute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems
Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs
Ability to create and update RFPO’s and facilities work orders in an ERP software
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic directions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area
Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Ability to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
Must be able to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed (up to 25%)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Facilities Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Facilities Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
