Special Instructions to Applicants

Courses needing adjunct instruction vary from semester to semester. Assignments are determined based on expertise of applicants. Applications for this position will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed.

Job Summary

This position covers occasional adjunct teaching responsibilities in the theatre program. This can include courses in theatre history and theory, as well as in performance practice, depending on candidate's area of expertise and qualifications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instruction of assigned classes.

  • Provide interim and final grades for enrolled students.

  • Completing required assessment activities.

  • Provide data for General Education Curriculum assessment based on student achievement in the course as needed.

  • Be available to student through office hours (face to face or virtual).

  • Collaborating with faculty as necessary.

  • Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

MFA or PhD in Theatre or appropriate related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in instructing theatre performance techniques and other aspects of theatre history, design, production, playwriting and development, or applied theatre practice, as determined by the needs of the program.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience instructing theatre in a higher education setting.
