ITW Electro-Mechanical Equipment Design Technician in Hatfield, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Basic Function

Work with the System Automation Group (SAG) team to design, document, and test electro-mechanical equipment for test and calibration in worldwide operations. Support manufacturing technical issues as deemed necessary by the group supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and document electronic control assemblies and fixtures.

  • Decipher system requirements documents and convert them into electrical schematics, mechanical schematics, flow diagrams, network diagrams, and I/O lists.

  • Convert schematics/flow diagrams into electrical drawings, P&IDs, and bills of materials (BOM’s).

  • Assist in the creation of Capex for new equipment.

  • Procure components, including search catalogs, requesting quotes, gathering lead time information, and completing purchase requisitions and track part status to keep builds on schedule.

  • Support new product development projects and development of new or modifications of existing test stands.

  • Participate in new product development meetings to provide project/equipment build updates as needed.

  • Work on assignments may be quite broad in nature, requiring substantial originality and ingenuity.

  • Regular attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic troubleshooting equipment and mechanical assembly tools.

  • Familiar with servo motors, valves, pressure regulator

  • Handle and install high-purity semiconductor valves, tubing, and fittings.

  • Experience connecting PC systems, PLC’s, DAQ hardware, communication ports, and instrumentation.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Tools.

  • CAD experience is required. Solidworks preferred.

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with the skills to set up and utilize various mechanical and electronic laboratory equipment.

  • Ability to get along with others in a team environment and to follow all safety procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Technical Associates degree required.
