WILLIAM E STEELE Wiring Tech (Wiring Technician) in HASKELL, Texas

Primary Objective of Position Plans, routes, installs and repairs various electrical components on custom fire trucks according to order specifications. Identifies electrical problems using a variety of testing devices.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Design electrical layout of fire trucks with or without blueprints as needed
  • Rewire and modify wiring
  • Run and test communication cables and all electrical wiring
  • Run, interpret and explain diagnostic software
  • Perform work under general supervision and handle moderately complex problems. Occasionally work with team members and others outside of the Specialty Vehicles group
  • Possess solid working knowledge of the subject matter and may serve as a resource for projects or for external questions
  • Interact directly with clients for training or troubleshooting purposes
  • Consistently works with an eye toward safety and continuous improvement for self and others
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on business need

  • Able to utilize a DVOM
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable using a variety of tools

Other Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of relevant electrical experience required
  • Trade or Business School preferred
  • Familiar with National Electric Code standards
  • Experience with installation and troubleshooting of 12VDC, 24VDC 110VAC-240VAC,
  • Understanding of multiplexed wiring systems and CAD experience preferred
  • Occasional travel may be required
