WestRock Company Plant HR Generalist in Harrison, Arkansas

The HR Generalist will partner with the Human Resources Manager in overseeing employee relations, employee communications, and recruitment. Works in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that the approved compensation structure is fairly and accurately administered and ensures performance evaluations are done timely and accurately. Promotes adherence to company HR policies and procedures while assisting with the implementation of corporate HR initiatives. Leads change by improving processes and procedures and by supporting new policies, procedures, and programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.

  • Tracks HR metrics, and employee statistics for mandatory government reporting.

  • Assist Operations with temporary labor tasks to include access to the building, timecards approvals, and conversions.

  • Maintains positive employee relations ensuring union-free environments, including the identification of breaches of culture/values that impact the work environment.

  • Investigates employee relations issues and partners with HR Manager to seek resolution.

  • Analyze turnover to identify trends and develop and implement retention strategies.

  • Ensure fair and equitable administration of wage and benefit programs.

  • Works with HR Manager and third-party benefits company regarding leaves of absences.

  • Partners with operations to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.

  • Post jobs, source candidates, and conduct interviews while ensuring compliance to all company policies related to hiring.

  • Oversees and/or conducts new employee orientation.

  • Works with managers to ensure performance reviews are done timely and accurately.

  • Works with the HR Manager to develop employee improvement plans.

  • Drives and executes company HR initiatives.

  • Conducts training, including management development training, in HR-related areas (interviewing, coaching etc.).

  • Ensures employee files are maintained in accordance with company policy.

  • Conducts annual open enrollment meetings.

  • Participates on safety committees.

  • Works with HR Manager to manage worker\u2019s compensation claims.

  • Responds to and represents the Company regarding unemployment claims and hearings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requirements include BA/BS and a minimum of 3 years human resources generalist experience. PHR/SPHR preferred.

  • Must have strong knowledge of state and federal employment law.

  • Excellent written and communication skills, including negotiation, persuasion, and conflict resolution abilities required.

  • Must be able to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with a strong emphasis in Excel and Word, Outlook and HRIS software.

  • Must have time management and organizational skills required, including the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Must be willing to work evening and night shifts periodically or as needed.
