Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tax Account Collections Technician in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4514322 THE POSITION Are your customer service and communication skills second to none? Share those skills with the Department of Revenue as a Tax Account Collections Technician. This position is responsible for the fair and equitable collection of delinquent taxes by communicating, verbally or in writing, the application of the Commonwealth's tax laws, rules and regulations to taxpayers or their representative. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Within this role, you will be providing customer service to taxpayers, accountants, attorneys, or other taxpayer representatives via a telephone and electronic communication explaining the application of various tax laws, rules and regulations. Responsibilities will include verifying tax payer account status, determining liability and computing penalty and interest. After a review of the account, you will have the opportunity to resolve questions, make adjustments and advise taxpayer.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws and rules and regulations and making taxpayer liability decisions; or Three years of experience in the collection of taxes; or Three years of experience in the provision of taxpayer assistance which involves the explanation of the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the required knowledges, skills and abilities.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
