The selected candidate will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary within the Respiratory Therapist career ladder based on experience and level of education.
This is a day shift position, with no weekends or holidays required. Must be willing and able to rotate and travel between UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC West Shore, and UPMC Community Osteopathic locations.

Purpose: Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under physician direction. Demonstrate advanced respiratory care knowledge and perform all duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT, across all patient populations and service areas.
Responsibilities:
Administer high-risk therapies (e.g., Nitric Oxide, Tracheal Gas Insufflation) and perform advanced functions in various settings (OR, ED, Cath Lab, etc.).
Conduct bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour Holter monitoring.
Monitor patient responses to therapy, perform bronchopulmonary drainage, and assist with breathing exercises.
Maintain patient charts, order repairs, and demonstrate procedures to trainees and healthcare personnel.
Supervise students and assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients.
Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.
Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient function.
Act as Lead Respiratory Therapist in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager, providing problem-solving, training, and technique demonstration.
Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required.
Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Respiratory therapists who receive their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
