The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) is seeking an experienced, energetic museum administrator to manage the overall operations of its historic sites and museums in the Commonwealth's eastern region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As Eastern Division Chief, you will oversee the operation of seven historic sites and museums housed in PHMC's Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums. Welcoming over 200,000 visitors annually, the Eastern Division's historic sites boast 318 acres, 172 structures, dynamic indoor and outdoor exhibits, extensive artifact and archival collections, and full schedules of engaging public programs and special events.

In this position, you will direct and facilitate the overall operations of the historic sites and museums under your management, providing direction on planning, budget, personnel, interpretation, stewardship, fundraising, public relations, the implementation of PHMC and Commonwealth policies and procedures, maintenance and more. Additionally, you will play an integral role in developing effective relationships with site/museum associate groups.

You will also assist the Director of Historic Sites and Museums in establishing guidelines and policy, professional standards, and strategic goals for PHMC's entire system of historic sites and museums. This includes assisting the Bureau Director in developing, implementing, and advancing BHSM and Agency strategic initiatives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with two days per week in the office. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Museum and Historic Site Administrator 2 (commonwealth title); or Five years of professional experience managing overall museum operations including two years of experience supervising professional or volunteer museum staff; and a bachelor's degree in history, American studies, museum studies, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of experience supervising professional or volunteer museum staff and a bachelor's degree in history, American studies, museum studies, or a closely related field.

Other Requirements: This position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension. This position also requires three or more years of full-time profe sional experience managing the overall operations at a museum, historic site, battlefield, park, or historic landmark with the mission of preserving and interpreting Pennsylvania history. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
