In this position, you will serve as the primary administrator of planning functions within the district and act as the primary liaison between the department and its regional planning partners. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is looking for a skilled candidate to step into the role of Transportation Planning Specialist Supervisor!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will assist in achieving the district business plan goals and objectives while supporting the department's strategic agenda. You will also help coordinate and implement the PennDOT connects initiative, including educating local government officials and district staff on related policies. You will be responsible for developing the transportation improvement plan  in collaboration with regional planning partners and making periodic updates.

Additionally, you will take management actions and make transportation improvement plan  amendments as needed to maintain a fiscally balanced program. Furthermore, you will represent the department at regional planning meetings and actively participate in technical advisory committee meetings and coordinating committee meetings sponsored by planning organizations as an alternate to the district planning and programming manager.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. This position is eligible for an alternate work schedule. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist 1; or Two years of professional transportation planning or transportation programming experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
