DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, your main responsibilities will involve repairing and overhauling various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tractors. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting maintenance and repairs on equipment such as sweepers, mixers, and front-end loaders. This will include tasks such as repairing and replacing shock absorbers, transmissions, hour meters, clutches, brakes, and other parts. You will also be responsible for balancing wheels, checking for proper alignment, making minor body repairs, and overhauling and testing alternators and electrical components on vehicles and equipment. Another important aspect of your role will be to carry out a preventative maintenance program on vehicles, equipment, and parts. This will involve performing automotive mechanical diagnostics, tune-ups, and tire changes. You will also be responsible for repairing and replacing engine sub-assemblies, as well as repairing and adjusting the cooling, suspension, electrical, heating, and air-conditioning components. Additionally, you will need to maintain the fuel, brake, steering, and transmission systems of the vehicles and equipment.

In addition to working on vehicles and equipment, you may also be required to repair or rebuild construction or shop equipment. This could involve tasks such as conducting official state inspections for safety and emissions on assigned vehicles, ensuring compliance with specifications, road testing vehicles, and completing inspection stickers and related paperwork. You will also need to use diagnostic equipment and procedures to identify equipment problems and determine appropriate repair methods, procedures, tools, and parts to be used. Lastly, part of your role will involve repairing and maintaining motorized hand equipment, such as chain saws, compressors, jack hammers, tampers, hand mowers and trimmers, routers, patching machines, and heating kettles. You will need to report any missing parts or broken equipment as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of these tools.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Tradesman Helper (commonwealth title) working in the automotive field; or Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License on the first day of employment.

Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Moto Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment.

Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.

All positions will require employees to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period. ?

Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.

Certain positions will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.

This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
