DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Alcohol Education Specialist works directly with individuals to plan, design, and implement programs, trainings, and initiatives to reduce underage and dangerous drinking and promote responsible consumption by those of legal age to consume alcohol.

You will be responsible for interacting with, analyzing, and identifying the capacity building, technical assistance, and training needs of organizations and grantees. This includes providing community technical support, trainings, workshops, and strategic planning as well as evaluating programs and trainings, implementing data collection methods to report program activities. You will also have the opportunity to develop and revise Bureau-produced materials based on your knowledge and findings.

Other responsibilities include reviewing contracts, grants, and agreements for alcohol education-related services in addition to monitoring and evaluating grantee performance through the review of reports and fiscal expenditures. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Flexibility needed to work varying days including weekends. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, except for reporting to the Northwest Office Building on Board meeting dates once every two to three weeks, and as operational needs dictate. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. You must be willing to travel. Travel expenses will be paid subject to Commonwealth Travel Policy. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Alcohol Education Specialist Trainee program; or One year of professional teaching, classroom instruction, or formal training experience, and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of professional teaching, classroom instruction, or formal training experience.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation.  An applicant with a felony conviction within the last ten years of their prospective date of employment is not permitted to work for the PLCB, per section 210(c) of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code. Other criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
