Starter / Ranger

WAGE: $12.00 *HOURS: *PART-TIME SEASONAL POSITIONS; MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL SHIFTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: STARTER;

  • Conduct yourself in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Verify the groups tee time and confirm that each player has paid the appropriate fee.
  • Notify groups when to move to the 1 tee, making sure no more than one group is on the tee at a time.
  • Avoid delays on the course make sure groups tee off at their scheduled time.
  • Complete daily worksheet (weather conditions, player counts and carts used).
  • Assist golfers and answer questions that they may have.
  • Provide direction and information on play for the day.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and orderly.
  • Keep range stocked with balls at each hitting station.

RANGER;

  • Conduct yourself in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Tour the course to insure proper pace of play and to assist players if needed.
  • Work with starter to maintain an accurate tee time sheet so the whereabouts of players are known.
  • Communicate with the starter and golf shop.
  • Promptly report any problems or delays that occur.
  • Check restrooms and water stations regularly.
  • Fix ball marks, repair divots, replace hazard stakes/directional signs and collect any trash on course.
  • Will be cross-trained to perform all other functions of golf course.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: *High School Diploma or GED *Experience: Golf game knowledge and experience preferred. Knowledge: Knowledge of departmental operations and casino policies and procedures. Skills and Abilities: Must have well-developed skills. Must have careful and deliberate decision making skills, be detailed oriented, and communicate both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment and handle high stress situations as they present themselves. Must have good customer service skills and work well with the public. Must have the ability to prioritize and be self-motivated.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Some range equipment, golf cart, 2-way radio and spray washer.

  • Stand/walk for 4-6 hours of an 8-hour shift.
  • Sit for 4-6 hours of an 8-hour shift.
  • Lift and carry 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and rotate as needed during an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work under varying weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is generally quiet. May be exposed from time to time to inclement weather, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and misdirected golf balls. Work hours will include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
