Director, Master Data Management

The Supply Chain Department of Catalent MD is responsible for all aspects of planning procurement, warehousing / logistics including the required master data management functionality to enable our ERP system. We utilize Monthly Master Production Scheduling, Weekly Production Planning and Buying as well as management of all levels of inventory through the use of MRP for work and purchase orders. This role drives the setup and utilization of a common system (JD Edwards) while improving processes, and advanced technology to drive continuous improved planning, scheduling, and supply chain optimization.

The Director, Master Data Management plans and executes the end-to-end data strategy in collaboration with our various Process Owners and Functional Business Leaders. This role will be accountable for driving user adoption of the capabilities for the scope within Plan-to-Deliver business process and collaborate with the enterprise data governance program office to periodically publish KPI metrics, share learnings, and coordinate escalations with data governance council and/or executive steering committee. This role will partner with the Product Analytics organization to ensure integrity of data assets – enabling reliability to power analytic products developed.

This Director, Master Data will act as a strong player-coach within Plan-to-Deliver mega process. As such, in addition to demonstrating domain expertise and commitment to driving continuous improvement in data quality and stewardship, this role must also have a strong blend of vision, pragmatism, business and technology leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate with and influence senior business and technical leaders.

The Role:

  • Define and execute a fully integrated Master Data strategy for Plan-to-Deliver process.

  • Align stewardship efforts with business objectives and priorities.

  • Define and continuously improve data stewardship practices for Plan-to-Deliver business process.

  • Facilitate adherence to data governance policies, and guide the management of data standards.

  • Lead, recruit, and retain a team of data stewards reporting directly or dotted line from other groups. This includes mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance for team growth and development.

  • Work closely with data stewards and the operations stakeholders to orchestrate timely and right level of support for data issues across Plan-to-Deliver.

  • Engage with and manage relationships with business and digital technology stakeholders to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities effectively.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • Support change management and data literacy/training needs of process scope.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics or related major with equivalent business experience. MBA/Master's degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in data strategy, data architecture, data management, and/or data quality, analytics and AI, and other related technical discipline.

  • Expert domain knowledge of end-to-end supply chain and sales process including Market Execution Plan, Deployment Orchestration, End to End Planning, Source, Make, Deliver, Sell to Customer, Service Customer

  • Experience with ERP. JDE preferred.

  • Recent experience as global data steward/Master Data Manager

  • Leadership experience establishing data fluent organizations with effective data governance and quality training and change management programs.

  • Experience with Master Data Management, core data objects such as Material, Customer, Vendor data.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
