Job/Position DescriptionPerforms complex emergency medical services work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Work involves coordinating, planning, and evaluating emergency medical services education/training and certification activities; planning, coordinating, and inspecting healthcare providers for licensing/credentialing; investigate submitted entity complaints and provide appropriate recommendations or actions for compliance; and providing technical assistance and information to healthcare providers, program staff, governmental agencies, and community organizations. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position is eligible to telework (up to 5 days per week).EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited EMS education programs adopted by national accrediting organizations. Experience in public health work.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. This position is eligible to telework (up to 5 days per week). Selected candidate must have the ability to provide a reliable internet service in a home office location free from distractions, that will provide the ability to ensure confidentiality of work product. Selected candidate must telework from Texas.Investigate complaints relating to EMS licensees and certificant holders. Develop investigation action plans, conduct investigations accordingly and prepare detailed summary findings reports. Ensure that plans of correction are developed and implemented for any violations of the EMS Act, Texas Administrative Code rules and policies. Complete complaint summaries within required timelines and in accordance with Program Guidelines and Work Plans. (25%)Review and evaluate self-studies and all other required documents necessary for the approval of initial and continuing EMS education programs needed for certification for compliance with the EMS Act and Texas Administrative Code rules and policy adopted there under. Ensure education program curriculums are in accordance with National EMS Education Standards. Assists the education programs with their development of goals, objectives, and EMS skills evaluation activities to assure they are in accordance with National EMS Education Standards and currently being used in the public health setting. Participates in education program advisory councils to assist with rule interpretation and technical assistance. Prepare written reports within specified timelines and in accordance with program guidelines and work plans. Performs inspections associated with state licensing requirements. (25%)Review and evaluate licensing documentation to ensure it meets all minimum requirements for pre-hospital/EMS entity applicant licensing as required by EMS Act. Coordinate and provide license survey and ambulance inspections to comply with the EMS Act, Texas Administrative Code rules and policy adopted there under. Generate reports required to compile and analyze data that supports the decision to issue a license to pre-hospital/EMS entity applicants. Plan, schedule and conduct on-going, periodic, and unannounced ambulance inspections as part of the routine licensing requirements.
