Job Summary. This position provides Quality Control (QC) field support and guidance to sales, operations, and other company personnel. Interacts with contractors and communicates with the plant and lab support team. Provides recommendations to address quality concerns. Provides quality reports with little or no direction. Individuals may represent the Company at various industry and pre-job meetings. Serves as a technical resource for the department, field operations personnel, sales personnel, and outside contractors and agencies. What You'll Do: Champion Safety. Per MSHA and Vulcan standards, takean active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others. Perform duties safely, responsibly, and proficiently. Oversee Projects. Analyze customer and job specifications. Assist in new product development. Oversee special, high-visibility, or large projects.

Train QC Personnel. Train QC department personnel in proper lab and field testing procedures to optimize team efforts and efficient performance.

Conduct Testing. Inspect, sample, and conduct routine and special laboratory testing on construction materials conforming with appropriate standard test methods. Perform tests to ensure the quality of products during production, shipping, and at job sites.

Review Test Results. Review, monitor, and maintain the test results of the data and adjust blends when required. Review material quality test results for conformance (per ASTM, AASHTO, and appropriate DOT procedures) to meet Vulcan's Standards for quality products. Communicate test results to supervisors, plant personnel, and plant site QC. Ensure proper documentation of results in the QC database.

Prepare Reports. Prepare submittals for the various products. Prepare statistical summary quality reports on VMC Aggregate products.

Troubleshoot. Perform troubleshooting of field and job site problems. Visually inspect material sources, stockpiles, and truckloads at Aggregate plants. Troubleshoot problem jobs and specifications.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Stay abreast of professional and technical developments to maintain and improve the skills and knowledge needed for superior job performance and to help improve operational efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Skills You'll Need: Education. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mining Engineering is preferred. Experience. Five years of construction materials testing experience in construction materials, including aggregates, asphalt, and ready-mix concrete, is preferred. Must possess superior working knowledge in at least one product line and have skill in all product lines. Testing Knowledge. The individual must be skilled in basic ASTM, AASHTO, and ADOT testing procedures applicable to our complete product line and knowledgeable in product-related specifications and finished products. Interpersonal Skills. Must have strong verbal communication skills for interacting with plant production personnel, plant managers, sales personnel, customers, and agency representatives. Analytical Skills. Skill in general statistical analysis, math, and engineering concepts is preferred. The candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position. Time Management Skills. The candidate must be able to perform material testing in an orderly, efficient, and accurate manner. Flexibility. The candidate must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. The candidate must also be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noises. Ready to Drive. Must have a valid driver's license. What You'll Like About Us: Salary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $54,840.00 and $82,320.00 annually. This range does not include our discretionary bonus or equity package.
