Northern Mutual Insurance Company Customer Service Representative in Hancock, Michigan

Northern Mutual Insurance Company seeks a full-time Customer Service Representative to join their team in Hancock, Michigan.

This is an excellent entry level opportunity for someone who enjoys customer service and assisting others. This position provides support to both internal and external customers as well as assists team members with billing functions. Previous experience working in an insurance office helpful, but not required. We will train someone who has a great work ethic, positive personality, and wants to learn more about our company.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • Full-time position offering four days from 8:00am--4:30pm and one day from 8:00am--12:30pm. Half day is your choice which day.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Answer and direct telephone calls using a multi-line phone system.
  • Greet and welcome guests.
  • Manage company voicemail messages.
  • Process invoices, payment reminders, and other policyholder notices.
  • Complete all incoming and outgoing mail functions including picking up mail from post office, distributing mail to staff, delivering mail to the post office, and overseeing returned mail process.
  • Take and process policy payments made by phone.
  • Manage paper record file retention.
  • Organize and plan staff events/parties.
  • Run month-end reports and distribute accordingly.
  • Provide back-up support to billing department (apply payments to proper account; send notices).
  • Assist team members as needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • A pleasant personality that is helpful and able to cover a front desk position communicating with a variety of people by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
  • Experience working with insurance and/or knowledge of personal lines underwriting practices is helpful, but not required. We will provide training for someone with a great personality, strong customer service skills, and who is detailed and accurate in their work.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, remain organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects in order to load paper bins on printers and copiers.
