GIS Analyst

Full-Time in Hampton, VA - Associate

Genex Systems is seeking an experience GIS Analyst to join our team! The individual should be well-organized and self-directed, fluent in ArcGIS Pro, and familiar with the full ESRI suite. You will be supporting field data transformation, editing tasks, map product development, some application development, and other geospatially driven tasks as needed.

We are looking for someone who enjoys tackling problems, is interested in learning new things, and who wants to grow with an expanding team.

Duties:

● Receive data and make appropriate updates in the GIS

● Work with field surveyors and external parties to transform data for addition to the GIS

● Manage, Update, Maintain, QA/QC attribute data

● Create map products for users

● Create story maps for presentations

● Engage in outreach activities

● Deploy sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, & statistical methods

● Use large data sets to address business needs/ issues

● Support data standardization efforts, familiarity with SDSFIE preferred

● Develop and update schemas

● Edit data within a branch version environment

● Develop, construct, test, maintain architecture and supporting infrastructure

● Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, quality

Qualifications

● 3-5 years of experience as a GIS technician, specialist, or analyst

● Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or other similar subject. May substitute experience for degree on 1:1 basis.

● Proficient with ESRI GIS Software

● Experience working on collaborative projects in a remote environment

● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work on multiple concurrent development projects

● Experience with Agile development practices and Scrum methodology preferred

● Experience with AutoCAD preferred

● Experience using Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions preferred

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

● Proactive and comprehensive troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Additional Considerations

● Must be a US Citizen

● Highly prefer experience working on a remote team

● Location must be within the continental US

● Must be available during core support hours of 9am to 3pm Eastern
