Electrical Engineering Technician

Full-Time in Hampton, VA - CMOE

Genex Systems is looking for an Electrical Engineering Technician to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join a team to support maintenance activities at NASA LaRC. This work will include identification of repeated causes of failure in support of root cause failure analysis and equipment lifecycle assessments (to include nameplate data verification and failure reporting), as well as electrical equipment/system field verification. Shall follow safety policies and procedures and perform all work according to existing policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship in performing the duties. (OSHA Lockout/ Tagout program) is an added advantage. Experience in operating and maintaining electrical distribution systems and/or control circuitry is desirable. Will perform field verification of equipment information as well as failure reporting and other reliability related tasks. Must be able to read relevant technical drawings and specifications. Relevant military training or aviation maintenance training is a plus.

U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering, mathematics, or science, and four (4) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education/experience for a total of six (6) years.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Must have sufficient mobility to enter confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. ( field work will constitute 30%)

Work Environment:

Office Environment ( 65% ). Test/Industrial Environment - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, high energy sources, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities. ( 30% ) Travel between facilities and during test operations may be required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment and chemical operations ( 5% ).

Equipment and Machines:

Facility operations display/keyboards/mechanical/electrical control/HMI, standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (65%) Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.

Attendance:

Regular attendance mandatory (100%)

Partial telework options (up to 2 days a week) available through manager request.

Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (10%)

Other Essential Functions:

U.S. Citizenship required. Valid Driver’s License required Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. The job position requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client.
