Your responsibilities Position Summary: The Test Lab Technician performs routine and special product testing to support Projects, Quality Issues, Production Problems, and Advanced Investigations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Configures and sets up, test equipment using MTS software for tests according to the lab schedule. Performs product testing in accordance with established procedures. Develops testing parameters and acceptance criteria based on equipment and performance specifications. Operates test equipment in a safe manner and per defined procedures. Prepares samples for testing when extra steps are needed. Installs and removes fixtures in test equipment as needed for specific tests. Monitors test progress and documents test data per established procedures. Operates a variety of computer automated and manual test equipment including servo hydraulic load frames, environmental chambers and data acquisition systems. Ensures the accuracy and consistency of data and results through thorough documentation in test logs. Tracks all testing activities, equipment hours and working hours in test logs for using in costing and tracking. Interprets the test data to ensure the test is performing correctly and notifies test requester when needed. Communicates test issues to test engineer and test requester appropriately when issues cannot be solved without support or escalation Insures laboratory is maintained in a neat and clean order at all times. Coordinates and performs lab maintenance in accordance with the lab maintenance schedule, identifies maintenance items based on schedule, ensures lab metering equipment is calibrated and current. Participates in troubleshooting and resolution of testing and equipment issues. Creates and documents operational procedures for the test labs as required per Bilstein Document Management System (BDMS). Revises and updates lab maintenance and test schedules as required. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Your profile Qualifications & Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associates Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Technolgy field prefered. Previous expereince in product testing preferred. Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Able to effectively relay information to different people from direct colleagues to engineers and managers. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Possesses the ability to take things apart and reassemble them without instructions. Understands and can convey how a shock absorber works. Proficient in the use of hand tools. Possesses good hand-eye coordination and is able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrated accuracy and efficiency when completing tasks.
